If you've ever dreamed of a vehicle that has the looks of the Nissan GT-R, but the eco-friendliness of the LEAF, you'll certainly want to listen to what we've got to say here at Jim Johnson Nissan. That's because Nissan has built a custom racer that combines the best of both worlds.
The Nissan LEAF Nismo RC was created to celebrate the two-year anniversary of our favorite electric vehicle, and loyal drivers of the EV were treated to a test lap inside the supercharged LEAF at the Oppama race track in Japan.
While we probably won't be seeing the LEAF Nismo RC here in our showroom anytime soon, it does boast plenty of exciting features. As we mentioned before, it's styled like a racing vehicle, and is also lighter, and wider. That leads to more power using an 80-kilowatt electric motor that can top out at 93 miles per hour. And, believe it or not, the LEAF Nismo RC performs this well while still using the standard 24 kilowatt-hour battery pack.
Pretty cool, right?
At the very least, it certainly goes to show you how electric vehicle performance is evolving, and is closing the gap between it, and gas-powered models.
