For the average person a limo is not something that you see every day. When you see a limo it is usually for a special occasion or event. Limos are very distinct usually long car or SUV making these cars very inefficient.
Well, Imperial Coach Builders, a custom-coach-building subsidiary of Electric Car Company, is about to shatter all of those judgments. After receiving a most unusual work order, the Springfield, Massachusetts-based company is about to stretch the Nissan LEAF.
"This will be the first conversion of this revolutionary vehicle and the first pure electric limousine,"1 boasts Gary Spaniak, President, Electric Car Company.
Already, Imperial Coach Builders knows they're going to stretch the Nissan LEAF to 225 inches (or 18.75 feet) long. That represents close to 50 inches (over four-feet) of added length, making room for nearly two times as many passengers. The question remains, however: What will Imperial Coach Builders decide to do with the seating configuration? Will they keep it traditional? Or, given the fact it's an unconventional car to begin with, go outside the box?
There are other questions the company will answer soon, as well. Such as, how the added length, and resultant weight, might impede the EV's range/per full charge, which right now is right about 100 miles.
Jim Johnson Nissan is sure they'll figure it out. We're just psyched to see the Nisan LEAF EV go VIP.
