Drivers in Bowling Green old enough to remember the Datsun cars of yesterday can tell you that the once populous brand eventually transformed into the Nissan line. And, as fond as the team at Jim Johnson Nissan is of our namesake line of vehicles, we were intrigued to hear that Datsun is making a comeback.

But you won't see these cars on the streets of Kentucky.

That's because Nissan is introducing the Datsun line in newly emerging car markets where automobile sales are just starting to take off. The debut is anticipated later this year and will be available in 2014 in countries like India, Russia and Indonesia.

By offering a line of reliable and attractive Datsun car in places that have few options at this time, it's expected that Nissan will continue its growth and enhance its reputation in the global marketplace.

Of course, drivers stateside can still find the new Nissan models for 2013 with ease. Just drive over to 2200 Scottsville Road in Bowling Green, KY to check out the Altima sedan or the Murano SUV today. Luckily, our favorite car maker still seems to know what folks want both here in Kentucky, and in other corners of the car buying world.
